How to Set Any Song as Your Android Ringtone (Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi)
Updated · 4 min read · MP3 Cutter Team
TL;DR
Cut your song to about 30 seconds with an online ringtone maker, download the MP3, then go to Settings → Sound → Ringtone, tap “+” or “Add from device”, and choose the file. Android accepts MP3 ringtones directly — no conversion needed.
Step 1 — Create the ringtone file
Open the Ringtone Maker in Chrome, choose the song and drag the selection to the best part. The default 1 s fade in / 2 s fade out keeps it from starting abruptly. Export as MP3 at 128 or 192 kbps.
Step 2 — Set it as the ringtone
Samsung Galaxy (One UI)
- Settings → Sounds and vibration → Ringtone.
- Tap + in the top-right corner.
- Select the downloaded MP3 and tap Done.
Google Pixel
- Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone.
- Tap My sounds → + and pick the file.
Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO (HyperOS)
- Settings → Sound & vibration → Ringtone.
- Tap Choose local ringtone → File manager and select the MP3.
Give a contact their own ringtone
Open Contacts, choose the person → Edit → Ringtone and pick your custom file. Great for knowing who's calling without looking.
Notification sounds
For message alerts, cut a 1–3 second clip instead and set it under Notification sound. Move the file to the Notifications folder if it doesn't appear.
